Super Brain Yoga?

It is quite funny to know a Hindu ritual for Lord Ganesha and also considered some kind of punishment given in schools in India and Malaysia is called as Super Brain Yoga.
Perhaps, teachers in the ancient days would have done this to students to activate and increase their intelligence and as time went by when no one questioned why it just ended up being or looking like a punishment.

How many of us remember doing these "thopukaranam"s(the tamil word for SuperBrain Yoga) & tapping the temples of the head(they forgot this bit in the video -maybe it will come in SuperBrain Yoga Extended/revised version) in front of Ganesha as the first thing when we go to pray?

The truth is :
All those rituals always had an inner meaning and even an effect on our body and mind.
Why do it in front of Ganesha/Ganapathy (Lord of the Gana's- Lord/master of the senses) ?
He who won the boon to be worshiped first and who resides in the root chakra (Muladhara).
He who is the gatekeeper to the inner awakening/inner intelligence.
Its no wonder that Ganesha is the first Deity we worship/ invoke before
we start anything (meditation , studies etc)
Most of our Indian/Hindu kids have done this exercise (especially in our younger days). If the Indian school teacher asks the student to do this exercise, we say "It is a punishment". If an American does the same thing, we say "It is Super Brain Yoga".
